Cookies
In computing, HTTP cookies (more commonly referred to as Web cookies, tracking cookies or simply cookies) are lines of text used to perform automatic authentication, session tracking and storage of specific information regarding users accessing the server, such as favorite websites or, in the case of internet purchases, the contents of their "shopping carts".
In practical and non-specialist terms, a cookie is a small file stored on the computer by websites during navigation, useful for saving preferences and improving the performance of websites. In this way, the user's browsing experience is optimized.

Technical and profiling cookies
For the purposes of applying the Provision, the Guarantor has identified two macro-categories of cookies and has exempted technical ones from the user's prior consent (but not also from the need to provide the user with information).

For technical cookies (for which the user's consent is not required) we mean:
- cookies relating to activities strictly necessary for the operation and provision of the service;
- cookies relating to saving preferences and optimization (for example, fl ash player cookies if they do not exceed the duration of the session, cookies for saving the cart or language/currency preferences);
- statistical cookies, where used directly by the site manager to collect information in aggregate form.

The Guarantor has clarified that the cookies that instead require the user's prior consent are all non-technical cookies, including:
- first or third party advertising profiling cookies;
- retargeting cookies;
- social network cookies;
- statistical cookies managed completely by third parties.

There are two analytics tools exempt from the consent requirement:
-analytics cookies installed directly on the first party's server or on its own server farm without interaction from third parties (for example, tools such as Piwik);
- cookies managed by a third party, but anonymous, i.e. in relation to which the third party cannot access the disaggregated analytics data at the IP level.
